Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber. In a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, the air pressure is increased to three times higher than normal air pressure. Under these conditions, your lungs can gather more oxygen than would be possible breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure. Under normal circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body only by red blood cells. With HBOT, oxygen is dissolved into all of the body’s fluids; the plasma, the central nervous system, the lymph and the bone. It’s then carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. This results in extra oxygen reaching areas of damaged tissues and supports the body’s own healing process.

What are the benefits of HBOT?

It’s been proven that healing in many areas of the body can’t take place without appropriate oxygen levels in the tissue. Most illnesses and injuries occur, and often linger, at the cellular level. In cases of circulatory problems, non-healing wounds and strokes, oxygen can’t reach the damaged area and the body’s natural healing ability is unable to function properly. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy enhances the body’s own natural healing ability by providing oxygenated blood flow to damaged tissues. It’s been known to improve ones quality of life in many areas where standard medicine isn’t working.
